MEGAPAN WOOD is a façade cladding which can be fixed horizontally or vertically to the outside or inside of façades.
The Megapan wood planking is an environmentally friendly façade cladding, which is suitable for interior as well as exterior use. Furthermore, the megapan wood planking is water tight, fire- and corrosion-resistant, durable and insect-resistant. The megapan wood façade cladding is very suitable to be used as a finished façade covering for houses, to cover the fronts of multi-storeyed houses or to fill up sections of façades.The megapan wood planking consists of standard megapan boards including a timber frame, of which the principal proportion is manufactured from a combination of magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride. It uses an alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh for strength and uses a modified mixture as filler.
The megapan wood façade planks are pre-treated, coated and packaged in the factory.

The megapan wood planks are covered with a foil as protection during transport and installation. This foil is easily removed after installing, which guarantees a rigid and clean end result.

The right design of the load-bearing frame and the correct installation of the façade products all contribute to a successful installation. A good result requires the installation to be commenced on a straight and level frame.
A damp-resistant, vapour permeable foil must be fixed over the wooden frames or the non-water-resistant stone like materials. The frame must then be fixed onto the foil, which creates a ventilated cavity.
Insulation is used as per demands of Building Regulations. The megapan wood cladding is fixed onto the frame, which is then fixed onto the wooden or stone like wall. The dimensions of the frame need to comply with the relevant standards and regulations. The frame must be straight and lie in one plane before commencing the façade cladding.
The megapan roof planks are nailed down or screwed onto vertical lathes (for horizontal installation) and onto horizontal lathes (for vertical installation) with a maximum distance between the lathes of 600mm.
The frame, including the façade cladding, has to be constructed in such a way that a lasting ventilation cavity is guaranteed.
The wooden frames must have a minimum thickness of 25 mm and a minimum width of 50mm. If installed onto a metal frame, the steel profiles must have a wall width of 0.55mm to 1.6mm.
The megapan wood planks do not have to be pre-drilled and can simply be nailed down or screwed onto the load-bearing construction. Each plank must be fixed over a minimum of 3 lathes. The heads of the fixings must be fixed flat onto the plank, neither counter-sunk nor protruding. Fixings must be fixed 20mm from the upper edge and minimum 12mm from the side.
In the case of using a nail gun, stainless steel nails must be used (min 2.3 x 37mm). Each plank must be fixed once on each support. The megapan wood façade cladding can also be screwed in with stainless steel chipboard screws (minimum 4.0 x 40mm).

Horizontal installation :
When fixing the first plank, one must check whether the distance to the ground level, around the building, is satisfactory (minimum 100mm distance between the bottom of the first plank and ground level). Ensure continued ventilation. The installation commences from the bottom with a start strip of 9mm thick and 25 to 50mm wide. This strip is overlapped by the first row of planks, which in this way are installed along the correct angle. Ensure the bottom of the first megapan roof plank is cut across the start strip, so that a drip border of minimum 10mm is created. A horizontal overlap of min 30mm is necessary between each plank. There is no sideways overlapping. Here the planks are only just placed against one another at the height of the underlying lathe. Under the vertical joint a band of black PE is applied. The megapan wood façade cladding may not be put too closely against other building materials in relation to the functioning of the construction. A minimum joint of 6mm needs to be kept to allow for thermal expansion.

Vertical installation: When installing vertically, the frame must be positioned horizontally. The megapan wood façade cladding can be installed in its full length. An overlap of 30mm is also advised for vertical installation. The plank may be cut down to a minimum width of 50mm. This strip can then be fixed centrally with one nail.

Between the joints of two planks, it is preferable to use plank ends which have already been coated in the factory.
Sawn plank ends must be coated with touch-up paint. A watertight PE foil must be applied behind the joints.
